ASME B16.9 Buttweld Long Pattern Stub End (Lap Joint)

Skyland Long Pattern Buttweld Stub Ends are designed for lap joint flange connections in industrial piping. Featuring a flared raised-face collar with concentric serrations and a long beveled barrel, they allow the use of low-cost carbon steel backing flanges over high-alloy process pipe, providing substantial cost savings in stainless and exotic alloy systems while facilitating quick bolt alignment.

Standard compliance: ANSI / ASME B16.9 Long Pattern, MSS SP-43, and DIN standards

Available in Type A (for standard Lap Joint Flanges with radius) and Type B (for Slip-On Flanges)

Sizes: 1/2" to 36" NB (DN 15 to DN 900) in seamless and welded execution

Wall schedules: Sch 5S, 10S, 40S, STD, 80S, XS, 160

Operational Guidelines

Type A stub ends feature an external corner radius designed to seat against a standard Lap Joint Flange.

Type B stub ends feature a squared corner designed for use with standard Slip-On Flanges used as backing rings.

Engineering Advantage

Stub ends allow the backing flange to freely rotate around the pipe barrel before tightening bolts, eliminating bolt-hole misalignment issues common with fixed welded flanges.

In corrosive systems, only the stub end wetted surface needs to be stainless steel or nickel alloy, while the rotating backing flange can be standard carbon steel, saving up to 60% in flange material costs.
