SOR SENSOR Inline Valve Sampling Systems (IVSS Series)

The SENSOR Inline Valve Sampling System (IVSS) by SOR Controls Group installs directly into existing 1", 2", or 3" horizontal or vertical process piping without requiring a pump, pressure differential, or external bypass circulation loop. Specifically engineered for specialty chemical facilities, batch synthesis reactors, and high-purity process lines, the IVSS guarantees homogeneous, uncontaminated grab sample collection while shielding operating personnel from chemical exposure. The system features a spring-loaded pull-type deadman lever that gives operators smooth, precision throttling control over the container fill rate; releasing the handle instantly snaps the internal valve shut, forming a bubble-tight seal. An integrated weep hole located above the stem packing provides immediate visual early warning of seal wear prior to fugitive atmospheric release. Available in Wafer (sandwiched between pipe flanges) or Inline Flanged configurations with customizable face-to-face dimensions, threaded PTFE bottle adapters, or dual-needle septum shrouds.

Installs directly into 1", 2", or 3" horizontal or vertical piping without fast loop or differential pressure

Available in Wafer style (between flanges) or Inline Flanged body with custom face-to-face dimensions

Spring-loaded deadman throttle handle provides smooth flow rate control and automatic fail-safe shutoff

Lockable handle with safety insertion pin prevents accidental valve actuation and facilitates lock-out/tag-out (LOTO)

Operational & Maintenance Guidelines

Remove lockout insertion pin and position sample container under adapter before pulling operating handle.

Pull handle gently to throttle liquid flow rate into bottle; release immediately once desired volume is reached.

Inspect stem weep hole periodically; any liquid droplet presence indicates need for packing nut adjustment or repack.

Re-insert safety lockout pin into handle assembly after sampling is completed to lock valve closed.

Direct-in-Piping Zero-Differential Sampling

In specialty chemical plants and batch production reactors, installing dedicated pump loops or differential-pressure orifice runs for sampling is frequently impractical. Using standard sample taps off pipe tees creates large stagnant dead legs that trap old product, yielding non-representative samples and wasting valuable chemical batches during extended line purging.

The SENSOR IVSS resolves this by placing the sampling orifice directly inside the pipeline cross-section. The streamlined valve trim draws a fresh, homogeneous sample directly from the flowing stream without requiring any pressure differential across the pipe.

Wafer design slips easily between existing pipe flanges without altering piping centerline elevations

Inline flanged body matches specific plant face-to-face dimensions for effortless drop-in valve replacement

Zero dead-volume design eliminates product waste and lengthy pre-sample purging requirements

Homogeneous grab sampling ensures laboratory analytics accurately match reactor batch status

Operator Safety & Early Leak Detection

Spring-Loaded Deadman ThrottleAllows operator to feather the flow rate into the bottle; releasing the handle causes internal springs to immediately seal the valve bubble-tight.
Early-Warning Weep HoleMachined port above primary stem packing reveals microscopic weeping before packing failure can release hazardous chemicals into the environment.
Safety Lockout PinMechanical insertion pin secures handle in closed position during maintenance or when sampling point is idle, preventing unauthorized operation.
Needle Evacuation System (NES)Optional pneumatic purge manifold clears needle ID with nitrogen, leaving station completely dry and contaminant-free.

Adapter Versatility & Container Configurations

Threaded Bottle AdapterPTFE machined adapter screws directly onto standard laboratory bottles (GL45, GPI threads) for viscous or non-volatile liquid collection.
Dual-Needle Septum ShroudPVC or stainless steel shroud with process dispensing and vent needles for septum-capped bottles, ensuring full vapor containment.
Vapor Recovery PortVents displaced bottle vapors back to scrubbers, flare header, or activated carbon filter canister.
Corrosion AlloysAvailable fully constructed in Hastelloy C-276 for concentrated sulfuric, hydrochloric, and organic acid processes.
