Fisher Vee-Ball™ V150 / V300 Rotary Control Valve
The Fisher Vee-Ball™ Series (V150, V200, and V300) is a high-performance rotary control valve that combines the precise throttling characteristics of a globe valve with the high flow capacity and non-clogging capabilities of a ball valve. Engineered specifically for demanding process services involving fibrous slurries, pulp and paper stock, wastewater, lime mud, viscous chemicals, and severe steam throttling, the Vee-Ball features a precision-contoured V-notch segmented ball. As the ball rotates across the seal ring, it creates a powerful shearing action that slices cleanly through entrained solids, preventing dewatering, fiber buildup, and plugging. The V150 features an ASME Class 150 flanged body; the V300 provides ASME Class 300 flanged construction; and the V200 provides a compact flangeless wafer design. With a patented splined or taper-key shaft-to-ball connection that eliminates lost motion and hysteresis, Fisher Vee-Ball valves pair with Fisher 2052 or 1052 spring-and-diaphragm rotary actuators and FIELDVUE™ DVC6200 digital positioners for exceptionally smooth, responsive process modulation across rangeabilities exceeding 300:1.
Non-Clogging Shearing Action: Contoured V-notch ball shears through fibrous slurries, suspended solids, and viscous media against the seal ring
Exceptional Rangeability: Delivers smooth, repeatable throttling control with rangeabilities exceeding 300:1 across broad turndown regimes
High Flow Capacity: Unrestricted straight-through flow passage provides substantially higher capacity (Cv) than comparable-size globe valves
Zero Lost Motion: Taper-key or splined shaft connection completely eliminates rotational deadband and mechanical hysteresis

Operational & Piping Notes
In slurry and fibrous media services, install the valve with shaft horizontal to prevent sediment accumulation in lower bearing housings.
Always confirm that the V-notch shearing orientation faces upstream for standard slurry cutting action.
Use certified Fisher mounting kits when pairing with 2052 actuators to maintain zero rotational backlash across the splined connection.
V-Notch Ball Shearing Action & High Capacity Flow
Standard globe valves often struggle when handling slurries, polymer emulsions, or pulp suspensions because suspended solids settle in the valve body cavity or wrap around guiding cages. The Fisher Vee-Ball™ eliminates this problem entirely through its rotating V-notch segmented ball geometry.
As the ball rotates into its closed position, the sharp, precision-ground V-edge contacts the seal ring with a continuous slicing action. Fibers, wood chips, paper pulp, and scale deposits are sheared cleanly without catching, ensuring reliable shutoff and preventing actuator stall. Furthermore, when fully opened, the unobstructed straight-through bore yields flow coefficients up to three times greater than globe valves of equal nominal diameter.
Modified equal percentage characteristic provides linear control response over the primary operating span while retaining extreme sensitivity near the seat
Ideal for paper machine stock blending, digester blowdown, lime slurry transfer, refinery crude desalter bottoms, and steam turbine bypass
Flanged body design (V150/V300) simplifies line bolting, grounding, and thermal insulation compared to wafer valves
Splined drive shaft mates directly with actuator lever arms, removing all linkage pins, cotters, and backlash
Interchangeable Seal Ring Systems
Fisher Vee-Ball valves offer three distinct seal constructions engineered for specific fluid conditions and process temperatures.
