Adjustable Dead Band Weatherproof Pressure Switch (V1 Series)
The SOR V1 Series Adjustable Dead Band Weatherproof Pressure Switch is an industrial-grade, cost-effective pressure control instrument designed for demanding non-hazardous environments where wide and independently adjustable dead bands are required between increasing and decreasing set points. Utilizing SOR's field-proven dual force-balance Static O-Ring pressure sensing mechanism, process media pressure acts against two independent piston assemblies and range springs, actuating a precision mechanical lever that drives an electrical snap switch. This independent dual-adjustment architecture enables engineers to set high cut-in and low cut-out thresholds across broad spans, eliminating rapid pump short-cycling, compressor chattering, and system hunting in water supply, cooling towers, hydraulic power units, lubrication skids, and chemical transfer systems. Built with a rugged NEMA 4, 4X, and IP65 copper-free cast aluminum housing, screw terminal block wiring, wide wetted diaphragm metallurgy options (316L SS, Monel, Hastelloy, Buna-N, Viton, Kalrez), IEC 61508 SIL 2 safety certification, and backed by SOR's 3-year manufacturer warranty.
Independent field adjustments for increasing (actuation) and decreasing (deactuation) set points across wide spans
Prevents pump short-cycling, compressor motor burnout, and control valve chattering in automated fluid circuits
Dual force-balance Static O-Ring sensing mechanism delivers exceptional repeatability (±1% of span) and high overrange protection
Adjustable pressure spans available from 5 psi to 1,750 psi (0.35 bar to 120 bar) across 6 piston/spring combinations

Application & Installation Guidelines
Set increasing and decreasing set points independently using the internal adjusting nuts and engraved reference scales.
Ensure decreasing set point is calibrated below the increasing set point within the acceptable range envelope.
For steam service up to 400 °F (204 °C), select the M9 wetted system (316L SS diaphragm + EPR O-ring) and install a pigtail siphon.
Use the MM vacuum protector plate if the switch will be subjected to intermittent vacuum conditions greater than 10 inHg.
Product Overview & Working Principle
The SOR V1 Series Adjustable Dead Band pressure switch provides precise, field-configurable control when an application requires an intentional, wide differential between the rising set point (cut-in) and falling set point (cut-out). Unlike conventional switches where dead band is fixed or strictly proportional, the SOR design incorporates two independent Static O-Ring pressure sensing assemblies acting upon a precision force-balance lever mechanism.
As process media enters the single process port, pressure acts uniformly across both piston areas against their respective range springs. Each spring is calibrated via an independent adjusting nut with a visual calibration scale. When increasing pressure reaches the high set point, the primary piston moves the lever to actuate the electrical switch. As pressure subsequently drops, the lever remains latched in the actuated position until pressure falls below the lower set point, where the secondary piston allows the lever to deactuate.
Dual static O-ring force-balance technology isolates process pressure without dynamic seal friction or mechanical hysteresis
Eliminates auxiliary control relays, dual pressure switches, and complex PLC timer logic in simple pump/tank level controls
Independent top and bottom thumb adjustments with engraved calibration scales for quick, precise field calibration
Extremely high proof pressure ratings protect switch components from hydraulic shock, water hammer, and pump startup surges
Vibration-resistant lever pivot geometry ensures rock-solid set point stability near vibrating machinery and engines

Model Number Structure & Ordering Tree
SOR pressure switches utilize a modular 7-position model number tree: [1. Piston] - [2. Housing] - [3. Switching Element] - [4. Range Spring] - [5. Diaphragm & O-Ring] - [6. Pressure Port] - [7. Accessories].
Example Model Number: 5V1-LA3-N4-C1A-YY represents Piston 5, V1 Weatherproof Housing, LA SPDT Snap Switch with Terminal Block, Spring 3 (20-240 psi range), N4 Standard TCP/Buna wetted seals, 1/4" NPT(F) 316SS process port, and YY Polyimide Epoxy external coating.
