Fisher easy-e™ ET Series Sliding-Stem Control Valve
The Fisher easy-e™ ET Series is a rugged, single-port globe-style control valve engineered for demanding throttling applications across chemical processing, refining, power generation, and natural gas production. Featuring a pressure-balanced plug design, the ET valve utilizes a precision-machined cage to provide positive valve plug guiding and rapid characterized flow control while dramatically minimizing actuator thrust requirements. Available in sizes from NPS 1 through NPS 8 (DN 25 through DN 200) with ASME Class 150, 300, and 600 pressure ratings, the easy-e ET accommodates a versatile array of specialized trims—including Whisper Trim™ III cages for aerodynamic noise attenuation, Cavitrol™ III cages to eliminate hydrodynamic cavitation damage, and ENVIRO-SEAL™ live-loaded PTFE/Graphite packing systems certified to keep fugitive emissions well below 100 ppm. Paired seamlessly with Fisher 657 (air-to-close) or 667 (air-to-open) spring-opposed diaphragm actuators and FIELDVUE™ DVC6200 digital valve controllers, the Fisher ET sets the worldwide benchmark for process reliability, dynamic stability, and long cycle life.
Pressure-Balanced Plug Design: Minimizes actuator thrust requirements, enabling the use of smaller, cost-effective pneumatic diaphragm actuators
Robust Cage Guiding: Full-travel cage guiding prevents plug vibration, stem galling, and lateral deflection under high velocity drops
Specialized Severe-Service Trims: Available with Whisper Trim™ III for gas noise abatement (up to -30 dBA) and Cavitrol™ III for liquid cavitation suppression
Fugitive Emissions Control: Standard ENVIRO-SEAL™ live-loaded packing systems guarantee compliance with stringent environmental standards (ISO 15848-1)

Application & Installation Best Practices
Verify process flow direction matching the arrow cast on the valve body. Flow-down is standard for liquid throttling to prevent cavitation; flow-up is recommended for steam and gas to reduce noise.
Ensure upstream and downstream straight pipe runs of at least 5 pipe diameters to eliminate turbulence before entering the valve body.
Always supply clean, dry, oil-free instrument air (per ISA 7.0.01) to the FIELDVUE digital positioner and pneumatic actuator.
Balanced Cage-Guided Architecture & Severe Service Trims
The Fisher easy-e™ ET sliding-stem control valve is universally celebrated for its modular internal architecture. By balancing upstream fluid pressure across the top and bottom of the valve plug through internal balance ports, static and dynamic pressure forces are substantially equalized. This allows engineers to use compact, fast-responding pneumatic diaphragm actuators even when throttling differential pressure drops exceeding 1,000 PSI.
For severe operating conditions, Fisher's interchangeable trim technology allows the ET valve to be rapidly adapted on-site without cutting the valve body out of the pipeline. In gas pressure-reduction stations and high-pressure steam venting, Whisper Trim™ III cages utilize multi-stage expansion and acoustic attenuation to reduce sound pressure levels by up to 30 dBA. For high-pressure liquid letdown, Cavitrol™ III multi-stage cages stage fluid pressure recovery above vapor pressure, permanently preventing vapor bubble implosion and valve body erosion.
Quick-change cage trim allows complete trim replacement in less than an hour without removing the valve body from the pipe
Balanced plug seal rings available in PTFE, PEEK, or carbon-graphite for tight shutoff across diverse temperature spectrums
Hardened trim components (Stellite 6 overlays) standard on throttling surfaces to resist abrasive particulates and wire-drawing
Flow-down orientation recommended for liquid service; flow-up orientation standard for steam, gas, and noise reduction
Fugitive Emissions Control with ENVIRO-SEAL™
Uncontrolled fugitive emissions from control valve packing stems represent both an environmental hazard and a substantial financial loss in modern chemical and refinery operations. Fisher easy-e valves address this challenge through patented ENVIRO-SEAL™ packing technology.
Featuring dynamic live-loading Belleville disc springs and ultra-smooth burnished stem finishes, ENVIRO-SEAL systems maintain constant sealing force during thermal expansion cycles and thousands of stroke oscillations, consistently maintaining fugitive emissions below 100 ppmv.
